The March meeting of the Campbell County Historical & Genealogical Society was held at the Highland Country Club. Dan Schlarmer was the speaker for the evening and gave a presentation on the history of Highland Country Club.


Treasurer’s Report

Glen Elsener reported that we have a balance on hand of $8499.39.                


Current Membership

 Jan Lester reported that paid membership currently stands at 220.      



Jan Lester reported that the May issue of the newsletter will be out at the end of April.  This edition will have the articles of one or two of the 2019 Essay Contest winners.


Veterans Records

Pam Casebolt reported that work is underway to develop a Korean War exhibit in the societies Veterans Research room.


Email and Correspondence

Campbell County Library Food for Thought Series, Antique Furniture of Early American History presented by Brian Hackett from NKU will take place at the Cold Spring branch on Tuesday, March 19 from 6:30 to 8:45 PM.


History Day

Northern Kentucky Regional History Day will be held on March 23 from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Erlanger branch of the Kenton County Library. Fliers have been mailed to all Campbell County Historical & Genealogical Society members.



Gifts and Donations  

The following gifts and donations were received over the last month;

1.     Store sign from the Country Cousins Bakery donated by Michael Reinhardt.

        1887 map of Newport Kentucky donated by Ed Whitehead.

3.      Lions Club items, jeweler supplies and more donated by Nick Cleves.

4.     82 Ft. Thomas Women’s Club year books and other paper booklets/items donated by Rita Walters.

5.     Eight copies of the Newport High School Alumni newsletter.

6.     Bellevue High School yearbooks (1963 through 1967) donated by Neva Fogle.

 Society Publications

1.      “A day in Campbell County” Book Project

 The kick-off meeting for the event will take place at the Wilder city building on March 30. April 27 is the day for taking pictures. Notifications for the event have been sent to High Schools, Photographers, Photo Clubs and NKU.

2.     Camp Springs Book – Postcards have been printed and will be mailed to approximately 1000 homes in the Camp Springs area to advertise the Camp Springs publication.



1.     Pam Casebolt reported that CCHG&S is accepting the donation of a Victorian Bedroom set from Cathy Berger. Space is not currently available to display or store the set but the Berger’s are willing to hold the set until we can accommodate it.  

2.     The Board of Directors has scheduled a “cleanup day” on Saturday, March 16 for the museum and research rooms. The object is to make room for storing and displaying additional items that have been donated.

3.     Steve Battistone reported that the Society has purchased a portable Public Address system that can be used at meetings and other events.
