REGULAR MEETING MINUTES

7:00 pm, Thursday October 10, 2019

 

ATTENDANCE:   108

CALL TO ORDER

The October meeting was held at St. Bernard Church in Dayton, Ky. President Steve Battistone welcomed members and guests and thanked St. Bernard Church for the use of their facility.  Pam Casebolt and Glen Elsener gave a presentation on the Wadsworth Watchcase Company that was formerly located in Dayton, Ky.

REPORTS

Treasurer’s Report

Glen Elsener reported that we have a balance on hand of $ 8560.23.                  

 

Current Membership

Jan Lester reported that paid membership currently stands at 282.

      

Newsletter

Jan Lester reported that the January edition of the newsletter will be out at the end of December and will contain the membership renewal form, anyone wishing to submit articles was requested to do so by December 1.

 

Email and Correspondence

1.  Campbell County Public Library Signature Series is presenting Lilac Girls (Women’s Voices from the Holocaust) author Martha Hall Kelly at 7:00 PM October 18 @ Carrico/Ft. Thomas.

2.  A Kentucky Gubernatorial Debate takes place on Tuesday, October 29 from 7-8 PM at the NKU Student Union Ballroom.

3.  Boone County Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution is sponsoring a Patriot Marker Dedication Ceremony for privates Jacob and Samuel Rouse on Saturday, October 19th at 2:00 PM at the Hopeful Lutheran Church in Florence, Ky.

 

History Day

Richard McCormick reported that the next Regional History Day is scheduled for March

14, 2020 at the Erlanger branch of the Kenton County Library.

OFFICE BUSINESS

Gifts and Donations  

Richard McCormick reported on gifts and donations received over the last month including;

1.      An updated book of Northern Kentucky Casino Chips.

2.     1950’s era stand mixer.

OTHER

Steve Battistone reported that the city of Bellevue will be celebrating its sesquicentennial next year. Some of the efforts underway are to identify how far the 1937 flood came into the city and to identify the oldest structure in the city.

Steve Battistone reported that the Historical Society was involved in the following events during the month of September;

1.     September 7 – Silver Grove Reunion

2.     September 14 – Girl Scout scavenger hunt that took place at the Historical Society

3.     September 21 – Historical Society bus trip to Carillon Park in Dayton, Ohio

4.     September 25 – Sr. Citizen’s Picnic at Pendry Park

5.     September 28 – Newport Art and Music Festival
