The September meeting was held at the Wilder City Building. President Steve Battistone welcomed members and guests and thanked the City of Wilder for the use of their facility.  Winners of the essay contest shared their articles with the group and received their monetary reward and a certificate of accomplishment.


Treasurer’s Report

Glen Elsener reported that we have a balance on hand of $9393.43.                   


Current Membership

Jan Lester reported that paid membership currently stands at 268.



Jan Lester reported that the January edition of the newsletter will be out at the end of December and will contain the membership renewal form, anyone submitting articles should do so by December 1.


Veterans Records

 There was nothing new to report on veterans records.


Email and Correspondence

1. Saturday, September 21 at 10:30 AM at the Erlanger Branch of the Kenton County Library – Karl Leitzenmayer will speak on Lafayette’s trip to our area.

2. The Ramage museum will be hosting a scavenger hunt and archeological dig on their grounds on September 21.

3.  The Kenton County Library will host an Antiques Fair on Saturday, October 20. The event will take place at the main branch in Covington.

Richard McCormick reported on gifts and donations received over the last month including;

 Society Publications

“A Day in Campbell County” Book Project

Steve Battistone described the project for new members and guests and reported that the book will be available around Christmas time.

Wadsworth Watch Case Company

Glen Elsener reported that the Wadsworth book was sent to the printers on Tuesday and they requested adjustments. The books should be delivered sometime next week. The books will be available for purchase at the membership meeting on October 10.


Road trip to Carillion Park

Steve Battistone reported that the CCH&GS bus trip to Carillon Park is September 21. Cost of the trip is $35 per person and includes admission to the park. Those interested were asked to see Glen Elsener following the meeting.

 Campbell County Sr. Citizen’s Picnic

The Sr. Citizen picnic will be held on Wednesday, September 25 from 11:00 until 3:00 PM at Pendry Park. CCH&GS will have a booth at the event.

Silver Grove Reunion                                      

Steve Battistone reported that the Silver Grove reunion took place last weekend. Approximately 150 people were in attendance during the day. John Sayers was honored for his 60+ years of service to the community.

Jan Lester presented information on “What’s new at Jan demonstrated how to search for individuals, edit incorrect information in the records and search the catalog.


NOTE: The October membership meeting has been moved to St. Bernard Church in Dayton, the meeting was originally scheduled for Wilder but needed to be move due to a scheduling conflict.

Member News

Steve Battistone reported the passing of longtime member and former Board Member Mike Stull and offered condolences to his family.
